If vampire books aren't typically on your reading list, keep in mind that Jeanne Stein doesn't write a typical vampire book -- and her protagonist, Anna Strong, isn't your typical vampire.
In the opening of THE BECOMING (book one) Anna is human. Anna struggles with her human/vampire values, dilemmas, friends, family, foes, and future throughout the series--creating dynamite conflicts and compelling reading.
Beware! Jeanne Stein's writing is so strong, you'll get hooked on her series.
Here's a sample from my Deep Editing Analysis from Jeanne Stein's August, 2010 release, CHOSEN.
Brianna’s façade of bereaved lover slips a little as her anger surfaces. It allows me a moment to penetrate her mental barrier, see the truth that flares and is suppressed in the time it takes for our hearts to beat once, twice.
Deep Editing Analysis:
Quintessential Jeanne Stein. Smooth and gripping.
An oh-so-elegant and enlightening example of what I call flicker-face emotion
But the flicker-face emotion is set up as a stimulus/response. Well done.
Note the phrasing, the imagery, the cadence, the power words.

Immersion Master Classes for 2010
Are you interested in three full days of intense Deep Editing, hands-on learning, in my log home at the top of a Colorado mountain? Class members stay at a lodge next door to my home.
Meet the Immersion Masters from August, 2010, the uber-talented and uber-committed (from left to right) Angela Foster, Betty Booher, Cindy Kiel, Miriam Allenson, Maggie Lynch, and Usha Menon. Note the EDITS System colored socks sticking through the rails. I put down my Deep Editing whip and allowed them a few moments of levity. :-)
The lone male in our August session, Mike Bourn, opted out of the sock photo, but I captured him snuggling my puppy - and reading an empowered excerpt from his manuscript. Calypso, my miniature dachshund, fell asleep in Mike's arms BEFORE he started reading.

Early Morning:
Betty Booher, master oboist, treated us to mellifluous morning music.
Marvelous. Magnificent. Motivating.

Late Night, After 11:00PM:
Some IMC'ers head to the lodge (and sleep) by 9:00'ish. Here's a close-up of one of the keep-on-working IMC'ers hands (Cindy Kiel), manuscript page, and Sangria.

Here's the rest of Cindy Kiel, attorney, Assistant Vice Chancellor, and fun-loving camera-ham.

Angela Foster, Usha Menon, and Maggie Lynch dig deep into Deep Editing to make their manuscripts page-turners.
Walk six minutes from my house . . . and you'll be at this rocky point with a 330 degree view.

Enrollment is limited to seven in each Immersion Master Class session.
The five sessions for 2010 sold out, but two people had to cancel and I have TWO OPENINGS in the OCTOBER class.
Upcoming 2010 Immersion Classes:

Margie's RWA National Smiles!
Enjoy the having-a-good-time smiles with all these Margie-graduates!
Kelsey Browning, Adrienne Giordano, and Tracey Devlyn are the brains behind the Romance University blog, and they're as brilliant as they are stunning. All are multi-Margie-grads -- and Tracey and Adrienne are Immersion grads too.
Tracey Devlyn is celebrating her first contract, a three-book deal. Yay Tracey!

Chatting, chatting, chatting--fun-loving authors (and Margie-grads) Robin Kaye and Elaine Levine.

I also got to join multi-Margie-grad Vannetta Chapman to celebrate her two new contracts. Woohoo!

More congratulations! Big time KUDOS to Immersion Master Class graduates Ann Fisher and Linda Baxter! Can't wait to see them again at Silicon Valley RWA in February. :-))
Two Golden Heart Winners!
Check out the winning smiles of Golden Heart Winners (and Margie-grads) Angi Morgan and Liz Selvig! You two are amazing writers! You earned your Golden Heart wins!

I caught up with uber-prolific and uber-successful, Pamela Palmer (below). She's a multi-award-winner, and another multi-Margie-grad. Kudos to Pamela Palmer!

If you're a Margie-grad (on-line classes, live Master Classes, Immersion Master Classes), please e-mail me and share your writing accomplishments!
Send me a picture too.
I'd love to post your accomplishments and pictures on my web site. Thank you.
Now -- for a few DACHSHUND pictures!
Calypso jumped into my office chair with her Frisbee. She knew when my butt hit that chair, she'd lose her Frisbee playmate for a few hours. She won. We both got some playtime. :-)
Calypso (10 months) is slightly taller and longer than Thalia (14 years). They eat together, play together, nap together.

Napping is quality dog-to-dog time. Sometimes they both claim the same dog bed.
Thanks for visiting my web site!
