I HATE to Write a Synopsis!

Sure some people like to write a synopsis.  For most writers, the task is about as appealing as jumping into a frozen lake during sub-zero weather--even though some people like that, too.

The typical approach to writing a synopsis is to trying to shrink—that agonizing process of trying to fit a long novel into a three to ten page synopsis.  Imagine trying to put a 22-size woman into a size 2 bikini.  Not a pretty picture.  The shrink method of synopsis writing is no different.  This workshop focuses on finding the essence of your story.

Workshop participants leave with a workbook that provides concrete reminders of the steps and the techniques.  This workshop focuses on concrete tips for the selling synopsis, a query letter, and a pitch.

Sharon Mignerey has written books for Silhouette Intimate Moments, Zebra, and Steeple Hill Love Inspired Suspense. She has recently completed a single title romance that she’s marketing, and she’s working on a suspense series. Her most recent title is THE GOOD NEIGHBOR. She’s had articles published by The Writer magazine, and she’s a regular contributor to The Rocky Mountain Writer with a column entitled Muse Sings.

Sharon is a student of craft, and she is a sought-after speaker who enjoys sharing with other writers. She received an MFA from Seton Hill University in Writing Popular Fiction.
