New Year's Deal!

Check out the Defeat Self-Defeating Behaviors Lecture Packet!

Read the piece below from ROBIN KAYE -- ABOUT SUCCESS!Margie and Robin Kaye

Robin Kaye posted this on Facebook, January 2013.

Robin shares 1, 3, and 5 year GOALS that she set in my Defeat Self-Defeating Behaviors class in 2007!

A few months ago, I was doing The Artist's Way and needed another notebook. Instead of running out and buying a new notebook, I went through my stash and found a notebook I used while taking Margie Lawson's Class, Defeating Self-Defeating Behaviors in January of 2007--I loved the class and made some incredible changes in my life and work due to Margie's lectures.

It's important to note that when I signed up for the class, I was unpublished.

I paged through my notes on Defeating Self-Defeating Behaviors and I had a real epiphany. I found my One year, Three year, and Five year Goals--I had some pretty lofty goals and thanks to Margie's class and a whole lot of hard work, I achieved or exceeded every one!

My One Year Goal was to "Get a publishing contract and finish one more book." I was offered a contract in July of 2007. My first book, Romeo, Romeo was published in November 2008, and I wrote Too Hot To Handle in 2007.

My Three Year Goal was "To have two books published, have several more under contract, and to turn into a writing fiend." A direct quote from my notebook. My second book, Too Hot To Handle was published in May, 2009 and Breakfast In Bed came out in December, 2009. I had a four books under contract beyond that.

My Five Year Goal was to have four books published and several under contract." My fourth book, Yours for the Taking came out in January, 2011, Wild Thing came out in December, 2011, and I had two more books under contract with Sourcebooks and a contract with NAL for three books and a novella--my Bad Boys of Red Hook series.

In the seven years since I've taken Margie Lawson's class, I've published nine books and two novellas. Okay, my ninth book comes out on February 4th so I'm a month behind.

After I found my notebook and took a very pleasurable trip down memory lane, I went right to Margie's website to sign up for Defeating Self-Defeating Behaviors again--I figured it was time to set new goals and defeat a few more self-defeating behaviors.

You can too!

All Margie's Classes are excellent. I swear the classes I've taken from Margie Lawson and Michael Hauge are the reason I got published and have, so far, stayed published. I encourage anyone to take Margie's incredible classes.

A big THANK YOU to bestselling author, and 2-time Immersion-Grad, Robin Kaye! Robin wrote that piece in 2013. She's published even more books since then!

I’ve been a professional writer all my life — ten years as newspaper journalist and sixteen years as a novelist — and Margie’s Immersion class blew me away.

Before I met Margie Lawson I had published 40 books. It wasn't until started
using her deep editing techniques that I won several writing awards.
I have a library of how-to books, but none trump Margie's expertise.

Randy Ingermanson, Ph. D., award-winning fiction author, and author of Writing Fiction for Dummies

I'm a huge fan of Margie Lawson's courses, the ones she teaches in person, online, and the lecture packets she sells on her website. Margie is a psychologist who applies what she knows about human psychology to writing fiction. I believe her material is brilliant.

Thank you for dropping by. If you have questions, please contact me.

All smiles................Margie

ession Date: Thursday, July 15, at 5 pm Eastern

Presenter: James Scott Bell is the national bestselling author of several thrillers, including Try Dying, Try Darkness and Try Fear. He is also the author of three books for Writer's Digest: Plot & Structure; Revision & Self-Editing; and The Art of War for Writers.

Story structure is like a suspension bridge: if the parts aren't working together, the whole thing will collapse. But get structure right from the start, and half your work as a novelist or screenwriter is done.

What you'll learn:

  • The Three Act model and why it works
  • The Doorways of No Return that compel readers to read on
  • The importance of the opening disturbance
  • The key to making conflict work
  • Secrets for crafting a knock-out ending

How does the critique work?
The live audio is delivered over your telephone or computer speakers. The Power Point presentations and desktop or document sharing are presented over the Internet. This is like a talk-radio program with visuals on the Web. You'll be able to have a live Q&A chat with the speakers.

Who should attend?

  • Novel-length fiction writers
  • Screenwriters
  • Creative writing instructors
