Powerful pacing drives readers through page after page, from the first to the last. It makes readers keep turning pages, makes them stay up late to finish your book.
You know how critical it is to keep your story moving. But when it’s your well-chosen words, your beautiful scenes, it’s tough to know how to pick up pace, how to make that magic happen.
Join me on March 6 or March 7, and I’ll share my seven musts and lots of other goodies too.
Some are lickety-split quick and oh-so-easy, others require a little more time. But they’ll all make you glad you got my detailed list, learned why these things work, and know how to use them. You’ll make your book a page-turning read!

Margie Lawson left a career in psychology to focus on her true passion—helping writers make their stories, characters, and words strong. Tired of the same old writing rules and tools? Try something new.
Using a psychologically based, deep-editing approach, Margie teaches writers how to bring emotion to the page. Emotion equals power. And power not only grabs readers, it holds onto them until the end. Many Margie grads have gone on to win awards, find agents, sign with publishers, and hit bestseller lists.
As an international presenter, Margie has taught over 150 full day master classes in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and France, as well as multi-day intensives on cruise ships in the Caribbean. Pre-COVID, she taught 5-day Immersion Master Classes across the U.S. and Canada and in seven cities in Australia too.
She also founded Lawson Writer’s Academy, where you’ll find over 30 instructors teaching online courses through her website. To learn more, sign up for Margie’s newsletter.
Show, Don’t Tell is so important to writing great fiction, but it’s not always easy to understand how to do it well. This course does that. Sandy takes writers into their characters and teaches authors how to write from the inside out and get emotions on the page. With several short videos and many examples, Sandy leads a class with kindness and encouragement and shares her knowledge in an easy-to-navigate classroom. With each lesson, students are encouraged to share excerpts of their own work for a detailed critique. I highly recommend this class.
I’m so grateful for these webinars!! They are the perfect addition to the classes and immersion sessions. This webinar was fantastic and just what I needed. Just when you think there’s nothing more to learn you realize there’s so much more. Margie always delivers what I need. I’m so grateful to have access to these classes.
The Course I did with Sandy was excellent. The Course Notes were clear and concise.
This course was incredibly informative in helping me to structure my novel and understand the various parts that go together to make a great story. I appreciated the in-depth focus on various elements. This was the first course that I have taken that did this perfectly for me in a way that I understood. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Loads of benefits in taking a class with Sarah. Sarah not only taught the subject of conflict and tension in detail, but also made herself available for other writing questions, encouragement, teaching and reviewing.
I appreciate how Sarah taught her class and offered supportive, constructive feedback. I went into the class confused about the very difference between conflict and tension, and Sarah cleared that up in an easy-to-understand format.
Many thanks, Sarah. I enjoyed the class immensely.
